Our group is not defined by a single background or belief, but by a shared commitment to equality. From college students to retired professionals, from first-time marchers to lifelong organizers, NOW's strength lies in its intergenerational, intersectional membership.
With more than 500 local chapters nationwide, we are present in communities large and small. Each chapter operates autonomously, addressing local issues while staying connected to the national movement. This grassroots structure ensures that our work reflects the real needs of women where they live.
Our national board and staff provide strategic direction, but the heart of NOW beats in the weekly meetings, phone banks, and protest lines organized by local volunteers. It's ordinary people doing extraordinary things — showing up for each other, demanding change, and refusing to stay silent.
We also partner with allied organizations, labor unions, and international women's groups to amplify our impact. Whether it's fighting for pay equity, defending reproductive rights, or ending gender-based violence, we know that solidarity wins.
